Basically, I'm wondering what a good, quick build would be to fight the Doppelganger. I'm not sure that spirit spamming would be the best idea, but, I am looking for a little advice on this. Maybe I'm wrong?

Try using Xinrae's Weapon, Weapon Of Remedy, Vengeful Weapon, etc. Let him attack you and spam those skills, but don't attack back. And yes spirit spam builds should work fine, place your spirits away from the doppleganger, then lure him towards you to avoid fighting his spirits.

i can't really help you with the spirit spamming part but, if you're a monk or secondary monk use healing breeze and wand him to death since the Doppelganger won't use healing breeze unless there is health degen on him, for example: bleeding, conjure nightmare, etc. lmao that's what i did even though it sounds it bit too simple. took about a minute or so if i do recall correctly.

EDIT: this method only works in NM

Try using Vengeful was Khanhei with Vengeful weapon and Protective Spirit, if you want to feel comfortable. And do not attack. He will kill himself pretty soon. It must work in HM, too.

But anyawy, I always bring only Empathy and Distortion and/or Mental Block on my any char. Cast Empathy on the Doppelganger and Distortion/Mental Block on yourself. And do not attack. He will be dead within a minute.

Actually spirit spam works. You just need to be smart about positioning.
You go in, aggro the guy, let him place his spirits and then run WAY back and let him follow you. And then you place your spirits.
You'll be out of the range of his spirits and he will be in range of yours.

Enfeeble + Insidious Parasite works for any class in NM or HM. Feel free to add any extra skills like EVAS or "Finish Him!" but they're not needed.

Just bring 3 PvE skills, like EVAS, PI, and idk-what, and cast all 3 spells. The Doppelganger wont have those skills, so his skillbar = empty!

"Finish Him" is nice like said before
And any PvE summoning skill or two.

Then load up on ranger spirits like winter or EoE (which you dont use of course, but doppleganger does).

I just used a Spirits Strength build with Asuran scan. He was dead before I finished my combo. (This was HM)

The Doppleganger doesn't get a pet so I just used a pure BM build.

The build I used to ascend in Augury Rock was as follows:

Ritualist/Assassin
Channeling Magic - 14
Spawning Power - 13
Shadow Arts - 3

Signet of Spirits (Elite)
Cruel Was Daoshen
Death's Charge
Ancestor's Rage
Rupture Soul
Gaze From Beyond
Explosive Growth
Boon of Creation

Usage should be obvious, but here's a brief summary:

Use Explosive Growth and Boon of Creation followed by Cruel was Daoshen. Count to about 2 to give Cruel Was Daoshen a couple seconds to recharge and then use Death's Charge to shadow step to the Doppleganger. As soon as possible after using Death's Charge, use Signet of Spirits followed by Cruel was Daoshen. Drop the second Ashes of Cruel Daoshen immediately, and if the Doppleganger isn't dead yet, (which he should be very very close if he's not) use Ancestor's Rage followed by Rupture Soul. If he STILL isn't dead, nail him with Gaze From Beyond.

I ran this a couple times to make sure it was pretty stable, all tries took less than 20 seconds. I hope this helps anyone who's having trouble, or is just too lazy to come up with their own. Good luck!
